Origin

Rully is located in the Côte Châlonnaise (hills of Châlon) named after the nearby town of Châlon, just south of the famous Côte de Beaune in Burgundy.

The vineyards cover an area of 290 hectares on the slopes of a chain of hills, always facing south to north-east to get the best exposure to the sun for ripening.

The Rully vineyards are considered similar to those of the Côte de Beaune with soil composed mainly of chalk and clay.

Vinification and maturing

The grapes are harvested by hand. First, a cold maceration for 4 days at 8-10 ° C. Then begin the alcoholic fermentation in the presence of selected yeasts of Burgundy. Punching down twice a day. Total maceration: about 18 days. Aging 100% in French oak barrels for 12 months. Bottling after a slight final filtration.

Vintage : 2024

One year follows another and no two are alike. After a generous and fairly mild 2023 vintage, 2024 was long, temperamental and rainy for our vineyard team. Rain was an integral part of their daily routine from autumn 2023 and throughout the vegetative growth of the vines. It took a lot of effort to contain mildew and weeds in the plots. Flowering went slowly but smoothly in the 1st half of June.

Until mid-June, temperatures fluctuated between normal and cool, with frost in some areas in April. It was only when summer came around that we were able to enjoy seasonal, even warm, temperatures.

In terms of Burgundy as a whole, the Côte Chalonnaise came out on top in terms of both the quantity and quality of the grapes harvested. Even if all these climatic hazards had an impact on the yield, we harvested grapes with very well-balanced ripeness and airy bunches. After meticulous sorting and fine vinification work, we're delighted with the quality of our wines. The whites are well-balanced, fresh and flavoursome. The reds are straightforward, fruity and elegant.
